Neil Johnson – Director, Co-Founder – Satchel Messaging Ltd (AIME Chairman)

Neil is a highly commercial digital executive specialising in product development, sales and marketing and has established a strong record of success in driving revenue and usage while optimising customer engagement to maximise ROI.

Neil is a seasoned management professional with board level influence and a consumer-centred approach, experienced operationally in the innovation, launch, sales and marketing of new iOS and Android tablet and smartphone technologies solutions and in identifying and capitalising on new business opportunities. Neil recently achieved a £4m+ revenue digital business growth in just two years, from a starting point of zero, attracting 50,000+ subscribers in the same time frame by capitalising on new technologies, championing the innovation of new apps and leading targeted marketing and promotional initiatives.


Rory Maguire – Managing Director, AIME

Rory has worked in the Mobile industry since 1993, creating the first shortcode text service with Orange Info to follow the pioneering voice shortcode information service, also on the same number -177. After creating strategic commercial relationships between Orange and Media companies to support their 3G Licence bid, Rory moved into mobile internet services arena with a start-up company and then joined Three in 2002 as part of the launch team. Rory has worked in the network end of the mobile interactive services industry until he set up his own consultancy services company in 2013. Rory has been on the board of AIME since 2006 and stepped in a interim Managing Director of AIME in September 2013.

Rory’s objective for AIME is to create opportunities for AIME Members to work closely together to develop their markets and to create new consumer interactive services through discussions between differing market sectors. The environment for AIME members is particularly challenging in the face of product globalisation, competing payment industries, creeping regulatory pressures and increasing cyber crime. AIME provides support through collective representation and engagement with government and regulators with contemporary industry expertise.

Toby Padgham – Executive Director, AIME

Toby PadghamToby has over 20 years’ experience working with companies in the interactive media and premium rate Industry. Having founded the Industry trade organisation AIME in 2007, Toby worked closely with mobile network operators, service partners, content promoters and media to drive numerous market growth initiatives and to ensure consistent Industry representation to regulators, government and Industry stakeholders.

Under Toby’s leadership AIME grew rapidly, securing membership of leading brands and establishing itself as the UK’s leading premium rate trade body. Prior to setting up AIME Toby founded the trade organisation NOC in 2000 and the International Telemedia Association in 1995.

In 2000 Toby bought the events company World Telemedia Ltd from United News & Media, launching several products including the trade publication Telemedia Magazine in 2001 and a further event AOE in 2003.  Toby remains an Exec Director of AIME and owns the consultancy business 49DS Ltd.


Edward Boddington – CEO, Harvest Media Group UK

Edward Boddington

Edward Boddington is CEO and Founder of Harvest Media UK, a service provider which manages audience participation across a number of broadcasters, production‎ companies and format owners in the UK. Bod has also served on the board of PSA as one of the first three industry representatives. He is also non-exec Chair of One Big Idea, a B2B marketing agency‎ and a partner in Bosham Capital Advisors, a corporate finance company focusing on digital and disruptive tech sectors.

Bod retired as non-executive chairman of the AIME board last month. During his 7-year tenure, he was responsible for re-structuring the Board, transforming relations with both PSA and OFCOM, re-positioning AIME into working groups and brining in many new members particularly Charities. In addition, he worked closely with and supported AIME’s Executive.


Alan Partington – Compliance Manager  – Telecom2

Alan has a broad church knowledge of the Telecoms Industry. Within Telecom2 Alan deals with contract, legal and regulatory matters. Previously he worked for BT for 40 years in a variety of roles, mostly in wholesale and for the last 10 years developed and managed the AIT process, dealing with most of the network operators and organisations such as OFCOM, PSA, LEAs and TUFF and won awards for his work. Alan has been a member of the AIME Board for the last two years.

He is currently running an industry group looking at some of the commercial aspects of the Interconnect agreement, particularly the AIT process, identifying issues, their causes and possible solutions. The aim is to reduce AIT and smooth cash flow to CPs and their clients.


Clark Johnson – Head of Products – Telefonica

Clark Johnson is Head of Products for O2 Commerce. A passionate, proactive and influential leader with over 14 years in the Telecoms industry, he manages a team of product managers and a portfolio that includes: Premium Rate Services; SIP voice; O2 wifi, bulk/ international messaging and fraud management.

Clark has led and delivered a number of key projects for O2: First of its kind eMoney operator partnership; Google app store launch and bespoke crediting campaigns and O2’s real-time payments bad debt solution. Passionate about the customer, our partners and charity, he actively supports industry initiatives to enhance the payments customer experience,  improve conversion rates and drive value for merchants and charities.

Eric Feltin – Operations Director – Safari Mobile (UK) Ltd

Eric Feltin

Eric is co-founder of Safari Mobile and has been working in the UK PRS industry since 2001.  Safari Mobile is a L2 merchant and an L1 sub-aggregator for a broad range of consumer PRS services – both in the UK and internationally.

Eric has been Vice Chair of AIME since 2014.  He is Chair of the AIME Digital Marketing working group and in that capacity helped write the Digital Marketing Guide and the Web-based Sign Ups discussion document.  Eric sits on the PSA Industry Liaison Panel and in that capacity represents the views of industry to PSA.  Outside of our industry, Eric has been Chair of Blenheim CDP, a substance misuse charity for nearly two decades.

Rob Weisz – CEO, Fonix


With 14 years’ experience across a range of Telecoms and Mobile interactive businesses such as iTouch PLC, Redstone, O2, Mobile Interactive Group, Velti and currently the CEO of Fonix, Rob has over 14 years’ experience running interactive messaging and payments solutions across Media, Entertainment and Enterprise businesses.

Rob has been responsible for overseeing some of the largest interactive campaigns in the UK. In 2009, Rob pioneered text donations for the UK charity sector, ensuring 100% outpayment across all mobile networks. This introduced an additional £60m per annum to the mobile payments industry.


Kevin Dawson – Sales Director, Oxygen8 Ltd

Kevin Dawson picKevin is Head of Payments at Oxygen8, a global technology provider of multi-channel engagement and payment solutions with offices in 10 countries, operations in over 27 countries and a turnover in excess of £90million. He has been working in the telco and technology markets since 1995, during which time he has held senior telecommunications positions with Orange, Vodafone and Talk Talk Business; whilst 10 years have been dedicated to Oxygen8.

As a member of Oxygen8’s Group senior management team, he has an innate passion for his work and understanding key business drivers to continuously deliver compelling technological, interactive and payments solutions for global clients.

Paul Murphy – EMEA Commercial Director, OpenMarket

Paul-Murphy-2015 square cropOpenMarket EMEA Commercial Director based in London, Paul leads the commercial interests of OpenMarket with sales and account management teams primarily focused on creating and implementing both digital and traditional sales and marketing strategies within targeted sectors working with global enterprise brands. Paul also sits on OpenMarket Inc Senior Leadership Team steering global strategy and development of the organisation.

Paul joined OpenMarket 2 years ago with over 12 years of international strategic management experience. His previous roles have included Sales and Marketing Director Europe for EDC GmbH and Managing Director for Clear Vision. His responsibilities have involved developing senior relationships with some of the world’s largest entertainment, retail and ecommerce companies whilst operating international supply chain operations.


Sally Weatherall – Managing Director, Strategic Brief (co-opted)

Sally_smaller_000Sally Weatherall (Solicitor, LL.B and MBA), founder and Managing Director of Strategic Brief Limited has almost twenty years experience working in senior roles in the technology and new media industry, including internet service providers, interactive mobile services, software developers and media content providers.

She was previously Managing Director of WIN plc’s New Media division managing premium rate services and broadcast media clients. International experience includes International Director of Regulatory Affairs at UUNET Technologies (formerly PIPEX), and Group Commercial Director of e2v Technologies plc.

She is a current Board member (and former Chair) of AIME, a founding director of the Internet Watch Foundation and has participated in the work of various regulatory bodies including PhonepayPlus, OFCOM, FCA, ASA, European Commission and UK government departments. Strategic Brief Limited provides technology companies with legal, regulatory, non-exec and commercial management services in the UK and overseas.


Alex Haffner – Managing Associate – Dentons Solicitors (co-opted)

Alex is a Managing Associate at Dentons law firm, based in London. He specialises in commercial and regulatory matters affecting the mobile sector, having acted for many companies across the supply chain on their interaction with the regulatory authorities and on their day-day commercial agreements. Alex also has expertise in the evolution of financially regulated micropayment services, such as eMoney and Payment Services. His work has taken him to many different geographies, including Europe, Asia, Africa and North America.

Previously a regulatory adviser to the Mobile Entertainment Forum, Alex joined the board of AIME in 2014 and seeks to act as an independent voice, representing the whole industry as opposed to one particular interest group.

Hamish MacLeod –  Director – Mobile Broadband Group (co-opted)

Hamish MacLeod websizedHamish MacLeod has chaired the Mobile Broadband Group (MBG) since its establishment in 2002. The MBG is a group through which the UK’s mobile network operators (EE, Telefonica O2, Three and Vodafone) work jointly on a range of public policy issues, such as payment regulation, child protection, privacy and consumer protection. The MBG has published a number of self-regulatory codes of practice for example: on new forms on content on mobile, on consumer billing and on the marketing and promotion of mobile broadband.  Hamish sits on the Non-broadcast Committee for Advertising Practice and the Industry Liaison Panel of the premium rate regulator PhonepayPlus. From 2004 to 2010 he was a trustee of the Internet Watch Foundation.

Prior to the MBG, he held a number of finance and regulatory roles for TIW, a Canadian wireless operator. He is a graduate of Aberdeen University, qualified accountant and holds an MBA from the Cass Business School.

Joel Stern –   Head of Enterprise – Global (co-opted)

As Head of Enterprise at Global, Joel is responsible for all B2C retail activity including Premium Rate and Micro-Payments. Having built Global’s Premium Rate business from the ground up, he has a deep understanding of how the industry works, the necessary compliance and, perhaps most importantly, what drives audience engagement.

Additionally, Joel has played an active role in developing the phone-paid revenue for Global’s Make Some Noise charity, including the roll-out of the highly successful ‘text-to-win-and-donate’ competition mechanics. Joel has over 10 years experience in the industry, having previously worked at DMGT, overseeing all telephony activity as well as mobile product development.


Ana-Maria Flores –   Senior Programme Manager – Cancer Research UK (co-opted)

Ana has worked in the Charity Sector for over 10 years specialising in the delivery of projects and programmes with large technology elements. Ana currently works for Cancer Research UK as Senior Programme Manager on Stand Up To Cancer, its televised fundraiser delivered in partnership with Channel 4. Ana brings expertise in customer engagement and interaction, payment processing, digital technologies and innovation.

Ana has been a member of the AIME’s Charity Broadcasting Group since 2014 and has played a key role in supporting its work to enable charities to claim Gift Aid from SMS donations across all MNOs.
