Qpass passes the $1bn premium content delivery mark
20 January 2006
As of 11 January, the Qpass digital commerce software solution has processed more than $1 billion worth of premium content transactions, making Qpass the first company ever to achieve such a record.
This value represents more than 400 million paid downloads processed and delivered via the Qpass platform.
In 2005, the volume of transactional revenue that the Qpass platform processed was nearly three times the volume of 2004, averaging more than $2 million in revenue value per day. Although ringtones continue to represent the largest single category of premium content revenue; mobile games, video services and new types of downloadable applications such as eBay, Mapquest, MobiRadio, and instant messaging were the fastest-growing categories in 2005. Total premium content transactions through Qpass systems in 2005 broke down across the following digital content categories:
Ringtones 56 percent
Mobile games 20 percent
Graphics 15 percent
Video 2 percent
Others 7 percent
In addition to on-portal services sold under mobile operator brands, Qpass operator customers are increasingly leveraging the Qpass solution to grow their off-portal services revenue as well. Qpass customer data reveals that off-portal revenue growth continued at explosive pace in 2005, growing from 6 percent of the total premium content sold at the end of 2004, to more than 30 percent by the end of 2005. Qpass digital commerce software solution makes it easy for operators to manage off-portal content providers such as Verisign, Buongiorno, Zingy and others.
This historic milestone further cements Qpass position as the leading digital commerce platform in this space, says Paul Hughes, Vice President, Communications Software Strategies, Yankee Group. Mobile commerce is a transaction oriented business that is scaling quickly. The rapid growth in revenue and service diversity delivered through the Qpass platform is a great sign for the industry and further demonstrates the tremendous potential for mobile commerce as well as Qpass' commitment to support this market space with both scale and flexibility."
We are pleased to have reached this milestone and to have surpassed the ambitious objectives we set years ago for Qpass and the premium services market, adds Chase Franklin, CEO, Qpass. This considerable achievement validates the unmatched performance and scalability of our platform, but also represents a great accomplishment for the many content providers and mobile operators around the world who have deployed these innovative services. We never forget that every dollar Qpass processes is valuable revenue to our mobile operator customers and content partners.
